BEIJING,June16(Xinhua)--TheUnitedStatesneedstoworkwithChinatobringbilateralrelationsgraduallytothetrackofstablegrowth,ChineseforeignministryspokespersonWangWenbinsaidonFriday.

WangmadetheremarksataregularpressconferenceinresponsetoabriefingbyU.S.officialsontheU.S.SecretaryofStateAntonyBlinken"supcomingtraveltoChina.

ChinahasreiteratedonmultipleoccasionsthatChina-U.S.relationsshouldnotbeazero-sumgamewhereonesideoutcompetesorthrivesattheexpenseoftheother.Thetwosidesshouldformacorrectperceptionofeachother"sdomesticandforeignpoliciesandstrategicintentions,respecteachother,coexistinpeace,pursuewin-wincooperation,andexploretherightwaytogetalongwitheachother.Thisnotonlyservestheinterestsofthetwopeoples,butalsomeetsthecommonaspirationoftheinternationalcommunity,Wangsaid.

"TheUnitedStatesviewsChinaasits"primaryrival"and"themostconsequentialgeopoliticalchallenge."Thisisamajorstrategicmisjudgement,"saidWang,addingthatthereiscompetitionbetweenthetwocountriesinareassuchaseconomyandtrade,butthereshouldbenoviciouszero-sumcompetition,stilllessshouldtherebepracticestocontainorsuppressoneanotherinthenameofcompetitionanddepriveChinaofitslegitimaterighttodevelopment.

"Thisisnot"responsiblecompetition,"butirresponsiblebullying.Itwillonlypushthetwocountriestowardsconfrontationandcreateadividedworld,"hesaid.

WangstressedthattheUnitedStatesneedstogiveuptheillusionofdealingwithChina"fromapositionofstrength."Thetwocountriesmustdeveloprelationsonthebasisofmutualrespectandequality,respecttheirdifferenceinhistory,culture,socialsystemanddevelopmentpathandaccommodateeachother"scoreinterestsandmajorconcerns,saidthespokesperson.

NotingthattheUnitedStateskeepsemphasizingtheneedfordialogueandcommunication,buildingguardrails,andputtingafloorunderChina-U.S.relations,thespokespersonsaidthatChina"sdoortodialogueandcommunicationisopen,andthecommunicationbetweenthetwocountrieshasneverstopped."Thecommunicationbetweenthetwocountriesneedstoserveanactualpurposeandhelpprovidesolutions.Whatisunacceptableistoaskforcommunicationandmeanwhiledamagetheotherside"sinterests.Onecan"tsayonethinganddoanother."
