BEIJING,June16(Xinhua)--ThepositivedevelopmenttrendofChina"seconomywillremainunchangedinthelongterm,andaseriesofmeasurestobolstergrowthareinthepipeline.

Commentingondeclinesinsomemonthlyeconomicindicators,includingthepurchasingmanagers"indexforChina"smanufacturingsectorandindustrialprofits,MengWei,spokespersonfortheNationalDevelopmentandReformCommission,saidFridaythefluctuationsarenormalandtemporary.

Withsupportingpoliciespayingoff,marketdemandhasbeengraduallyrecovering,andthesupplystructureisimproving,whichcaninjectimpetusintoChina"seconomicdevelopment,saidMeng.

Retailsales,agaugeofChina"sconsumptiongrowth,increased9.3percentyearonyearto18.76trillionyuan(about2.63trillionU.S.dollars),andservice-relatedconsumptiongrewrapidly.

FromJanuarytoMay,thegrowthrateoftheboxofficerevenueacrossChinatopped40percentyearonyear,whilethatinthecateringsectorregistered22.6percent.

China"sfixed-assetinvestmenttotaled18.88trillionyuanintheperiod,up4percentyearonyear,andinvestmentinhigh-techindustriesincreasedby12.8percentyearonyearamidthecountry"seffortstopromoteindustrialtransformationandupgrading.

Mengsaidthattheupwardtrendofmajoreconomicindicatorsisexpectedtomaintaininthelongtermbutcautionedthatmarketdemandisstillinsufficientandtheendogenouspoweroftheeconomystillneedstobeenhanced.

Inthefaceofsuchpressuresandchallenges,thecountrywilltakemeasurestoaddvitalitytotheeconomyinthenextstage.

MengsaidChinawouldrolloutpoliciestorecoverandexpandconsumptiontimeously,continuouslyimprovingtheconsumptionenvironmentandunleashingpotentialinserviceconsumption.

Tostimulateautoconsumption,thecountrywillexpeditebuildingbatterychargingfacilitiesandtransformationofpowergridsincities,andpromotenewenergyvehiclesinruralareas,shesaid.

Effortswillalsobemadetoincreasetheincomeofurbanandruralresidents,saidMeng,pledgingthatthecountrywillstabilizeemployment,givemoresupporttoruralindustries,broadenchannelsforfarmerstogetrich,continuetoimplementexistingtaxandfeecutpolicies,andimprovethemulti-tieredsocialsecuritysystem.

Tostimulategrowth,thePeople"sBankofChinareducedtheone-yearinterestrateofitsmedium-termlendingfacilityonThursday,followingtwosimilarpolicyratecutsearlierthisweek,intheseven-dayreversereporateandthestandinglendingfacilityrate.Suchmovessentaclearsignalthattheauthoritieswillstrengthencounter-cyclicaladjustmentandshoreupmarketexpectations.

Onthefiscalfront,thecentralgovernmenthaspledgedtoprovidetransferpaymentsof10.06trillionyuanthisyear,thehighestlevelinrecentyears,tohelplocalauthoritiesdealwithfinancialdroughtscausedbyfactorsincludingmassivetaxandfeecuts.

Chinaaimstoexpanditseconomybyaround5percentin2023,saidthisyear"sgovernmentworkreport,alsostatingthatthecountrywouldincreasedomesticdemandin2023,prioritizingtherecoveryandexpansionofconsumption.
